Great theme. I just can’t get a recent comments in the sidebar and no recent comment widget available under presentation/widgets
June 27th, 2007 at 10:54 am
Steve, i must have forgot to add this to functions.php – i’ll do it later and update the theme
June 28th, 2007 at 7:46 pm
hi, really nice theme, i love it.
where can i change the adsense code, the widget itself got no function for it
thanks
max
June 28th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Hi Maxdata,
The adsense sidebar widgets are called “myads1″ and “myads2″
June 28th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
thanks for the quick reply, yes if drop the myads1 or myads2 into the sidebar i can’t edit them as i can do with text1 or any other widget
June 28th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
Hmm, this is strange – i’ve seen quite a few people so far who are using Finishing Touch with there own adense code on.
Did you goto ‘edit widget?’
My other suggestion for a quick fix is, open funtions.php found in the finishing touch theme folder.
Scroll down and you’ll see two seperate blocks of adsense code, you can edit them there – save and upload.
Would you mind pasting me the URL to the site, so i can check it out?
Cheers

Hi Came across your site – What a great theem – Looks fantstic and performs well with great widgets
Thansk
By the way how do I download the theme
Thanks

Is there a way to get rid of the adsense ads altogether? If I delete the verbiage out of the ‘functions.php’ file, will it have an adverse affect on anything?
June 29th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
I can’t see an ‘edit widget?’ option, where should it be? In Presentation > Widgets ?
I see only configure for the other widgets
Thanks
June 29th, 2007 at 11:09 pm
The other option would be open functions.php in the finishing touch folder, edit the AdSense code and upload the changes.
As for removing the ads all together, go to presentation > widgets > then drag the widgets you want into your columns and leave myads1 and myads2 on the selection bar below.
June 29th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
Thanks, Lee.
I tried adding the widgets I wanted, but when I do that it removes all the ‘precanned’ widgets from the sidebar, and there isn’t a ‘recent comment’ widget on the selction bar (which I want included), so if I customize the right sidebar at all, I end up losing the ‘recent comments’ widget altogether.
Ideally, my ‘recent comments’ widget would be there above my ‘recent posts’ widget… but I would settle for any order, if I could remove the ads.
By the way, fantastic theme.
June 29th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
Hey Paul,
I’ll be updating the theme soon to include a selection for recent comments
June 30th, 2007 at 9:50 pm
Paul, would you email me your functions.php file to contact@theme-time.com
July 2nd, 2007 at 1:12 pm
on the way.
July 3rd, 2007 at 9:52 am
I do not see any options for the adsense widget.
Where do i find the adsense sidebar widgets called “myads1″ and “myads2″?
we gave ten dollars for the them because we loved the layout. but no options any where for adsense.
Also how can you control the CALENDER to show dates that are in the future and still be published to the blog?
any help would be great. thanks
July 3rd, 2007 at 10:29 am
Hey Jw,
Firstly with the adsense widget, open up functions.php and you’ll see two entries of adsense code, add in your publisher ID and upload.
Then open sidebar.php and repeat the process.
The calendar is driven by wordpress, it’s not unique to finishing touch – Try doing some searchs for calendar plugins on http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins
July 3rd, 2007 at 2:00 pm
Lee, thanks for all your help getting my theme customized and up and running! I appreciate your work ethic and willingness to get it done exactly how we wanted it. My boss loves it!
July 3rd, 2007 at 5:04 pm
This might sound like a basic question… it probably is… but is there a way to format these posts to print with only the post and comments… basically none of the sidebars?
I know you can print preview and then print only the relevant pages, but am not sure if it is possible to link to a formatted page for printing.
July 3rd, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Hey Paul,
Your probably looking for a plugin – i don’t think i would be able to integrate that feature in a theme.
It may come with every word press installation, but if not – try doing a few searches over at http://wordpress.org/extend/downloads
July 5th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Hi,
Just checking to see if Finishing Touch has been upgraded to fix the Recent Comments issue. Thank you.
Steve
July 5th, 2007 at 4:39 pm
Steve,
Refresh this page a few times, then click download – recent comments and a few other bug fixes have been added.
July 6th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
I love this template but is there a way I can remove the orange and white design at the top?
July 6th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Hey Robert,
It’s easily done – just overwrite the header.png file in the images folder with anything you wish, and re-upload the image to your server
July 6th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
Hi, me again. I’m having a little trouble doing that. I’m using cPanel and i’m trying to do what you said but it doesn’t seem to change anything. The file header.png stays no matter what I upload.
July 7th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
Yeah, how do I remove the Copyright symbol from the bottom part? I don’t care about removing your links, I just want my website not to be copyrighted.
July 7th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Something must be going wrong somewhere.
Are you sure your overwriting the file correctly? Because if header.png has been replaced, it’s impossible for the old file to show
July 7th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
[...] comes with all the style and functionality of Finishing Touch, aswell a banner you can easily change – previously offered in Dark Effect. So this time [...]
July 7th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
Well that’s the thing, I don’t think I’m doing it right. What I do is highlight the image from my computer and then highlight the header.png and hit upload. After that my image is on my site’s server and the header is still there. Any idea on what I’m doing wrong?
July 7th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Hey Robert,
Try doing this:
Download the theme again, overwrite the header.png image in the theme folder – upload your whole theme again, and activate – that should do the trick
July 8th, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Is there a way to remove the Copyright (My site)? It’s pretty irritating.
July 8th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Hey Jared,
Currently, the only way to remove / add things in the footer area is to brand free the template, then the sponsored links are removed, and the footer file becomes editable so you can add / take away anything you want.
July 15th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
Hi,
I have branding free your template. I want to know where I can change the font size for the articles and for the block content on the sidebar?
Thanks
July 18th, 2007 at 3:02 am
Is there a way to turn the calendar into an event tracking and information feature or do I have to get a plug-in?
July 18th, 2007 at 9:48 pm
#32 – Open style.css and do a search for ” 12px; ”
Replace all instances with a higher number, like: ” 13px; ”
Save and upload.
#33 – I’m really unsure on this one jeff, it might possibly be a plugin though.
July 24th, 2007 at 3:07 pm
How do I change the colors where it says, Home and About? For that matter is there a way to add more options?
July 28th, 2007 at 2:17 pm
Does the background have a name?
July 28th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
I’m having trouble with adding the shopping cart. Any advice?
July 31st, 2007 at 11:57 am
Robert, just replace the background image, its called something along the lines of “top-nav”, but if you right click the background image on your site, and click ‘save as’ you’ll be able to find the file name out.
Ken, I’ve never tried to implement a shopping cart into a blog before, so i can’t help you on that, sorry!
August 1st, 2007 at 2:28 pm
What about on the right side where it says “Recent Comments” it shows the comment with the date next to it, the date is always white and I can’t find anything in the CSS to turn it another color. What would that be called?
August 1st, 2007 at 4:55 pm
Nevermind the recent comments thing, I have of course e-mailed you twice regarding payment for the brand free option, is there a way that I can pay you with a check or money order?
August 2nd, 2007 at 10:47 pm
What’s the deal with the footer? I had changed it to another color but there’s still a thin black strip at the bottom and at the right side of the page, what’s up with that?
August 3rd, 2007 at 2:35 am
Nevermind again, it’s just one of those things you have to find in the ftp files.
August 3rd, 2007 at 11:05 pm
On second thought, it hasn’t changed yet, I’m pretty sure it’s “form-bg.gif but it never changes on the site.
August 4th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
On second second, thought, nevermind again.
August 5th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Hey Steve,
Excellent theme, love it. We are using it at http://www.blackberrylog.info – Let us know what you think as we have done some (minor) touches to it, but it’s getting a lot of compliments on the work, and the credit goes to you guys.
Thank you again for such an amazing theme for us to use.
August 5th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Hehe, sorry admin, looked at the wrong post thinking you were Steve, go ahead and change that comment to “admin”
Thank you sir
August 6th, 2007 at 2:00 am
One thing though, my site name and something that says Back to Top are at the bottom, but they will not change colors, what’s up with that?
August 6th, 2007 at 3:41 pm
And it will not go away either.
August 7th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Wait a sec, sorry for all of the comments, I’m sure you can delete them all. The current problems I’m having are.
1. The links at the bottom that have my site’s name and back to top stay yellow and I can’t change their colors nor can I change the color that it gets when you hover over them.
2. Can I put the search bar somewhere else on the page?
3. Can the banner size be altered somehow?
September 24th, 2007 at 3:23 am
I’ve installed this theme and the sidebars don’t even show up. No idea what the problem is. Any ideas? I’ve got them as widgets, and I’ve tried it without to no avail.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:25 am
Oh yeah.. same thing happens with the Dark Effect reloaded theme.
September 24th, 2007 at 5:31 pm
Hi there,
please send me the link to your actual installation and I will see if I can replicate the problem you are having.
thanks

FYI.. This theme has been fixed to work with WordPress 2.3
Latest files have been uploaded.
October 5th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
After upgrading to wp 2.3 this is what i am getting on top of posts in the index page only
“Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The first argument should be either a string or an integer in /misc/21/513/263/398/user/web/voiceofafricanwomen.com/wp-includes/category-template.php on line 176″
What can I do to fix this
October 5th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
This theme has been updated to work with wordpress 2.3. All bugs and errors have been fixed. simply download the latest version. I hope that helps.
thanks
October 14th, 2007 at 6:21 am
Love the theme. I have the Brand Free version.
When i go to “FinishingTouch Options”, Under Support for Asides / Side Notes, I see the error message:
WordPress database error: [Table 'bbdweplay.wp_categories' doesn't exist]
SELECT * from wp_categories WHERE category_count > 0
What’s the solution?
October 14th, 2007 at 2:41 pm
Im glad you’re enjoying the theme
With regards to the error, we actually removed support for asides from all of our themes since there are now a few plugins available to do this. We’re trying to clean up our themes from wordpress 2.3 onwards leaving out the more hacked together code which honestly we cannot support from version to version. We just dont have the time
Pushing people to use supported plugins allows us to concentrate more on releasing good quality widget ready themes rather than spending hours on each wordpress update fixing all the extra options.
With regards to the options being available in the admin menu, thats a mistake on our part as they should have been removed. I hope that helps and if you have any more problems let me know.
thanks

Thanks for your quick response. I’m a Web Developer, And i understand how it can be very time consuming to try to keep up with every WordPress release. To many variables to constantly consider.
Thanks for the great work on the themes.
October 16th, 2007 at 8:45 pm
I spot a problem.
I don’t see: “Previous Page” or “Next Page” links at the bottom of the Home page to view the other posts. It’s normally at the bottom of the home page.
What’s the solution?
October 17th, 2007 at 8:39 am
Yup me too can’t see “Previous Page” or “Next Page” options.
October 17th, 2007 at 8:43 am
Ok fixed it added
To the end of index.php.
Thanks for the great theme.
October 19th, 2007 at 2:51 am
susheel, I don’t see the code you added to the end of index.php
Can you repost it, please.
October 19th, 2007 at 3:37 am
I found the solution. I posted this on line 27 of the index.php file:

All-
I would like to reorganize and rename the Sidebar items. However, when I go to edit the files in the Admin section of my blog, I’m always unsuccessful in ultimately updating the file. Do I need to make my edits on a third-party source? And then upload an entirely new file?
Just a little confused… Thanks!
Tim
